The Global Race to Supply Our Future: Mineral Demands, Supply Chain Vulnerabilities and Our Broken Permitting Process
For decades, the U.S. has been plagued by its over-reliance on foreign countries for minerals, and our complex mine permitting process continues to obstruct the ability to meet our mineral needs with domestic resources. The confluence of several events, including skyrocketing mineral demands from electric vehicles and green energy technologies, several permitting reform proposals in Congress, set against the backdrop of the Biden administration’s Interagency Working Group (IWG) on mining, makes this moment in time critical, both for the mining industry and for this administration’s climate, transportation and supply chain goals.
Join representatives from the Biden-Harris administration, members of Congress, analysts, industry experts, representatives from the auto and manufacturing industries, supply chain experts, and others for an event to discuss:
- The skyrocketing need for minerals in the U.S.
- What needs to be done in the U.S. to ensure that these essential minerals are sourced here at home, thus creating secure, domestic supply chains
- How to wean the U.S. off of its reliance on geopolitical rivals like China and Russia
- And more
